River Lambre
It is a river in the Northern slope in Galicia. It washes part of the villages of Monfero, Vilarmaior, Paderne and Miño.
It begins to flow in Santa Xuliana (Monfero) at the height of 520 meters. It crosses the followings streams: Orballeira, Rioseco, Cal do Seixo y Veiga. Finally it flows into Ponte do Porco.
In spite of its low volume of water and short length (15 kms), River Lambre offers beautiful hooks to make the most of Nature and lanzar la caña
.
It was over this river that Fernan Perez de Andrade, in the XIV century, built one of the seven famous rivers which gave easy way to carriages by his abminion. The bridge was so famous that gave name to the place called Ponte do Porco due to the boar, a totemic animal sculpted in one of its pillars where the popular name comes from.
Another interesting place are the MARISMAS, which begins to get wider by giving us its wonderful charcus.
Its climatic vegetation is represented by oaks like Quercus Robar . However, as far as floral composition is concerned vegetation is slightly different.
Nowadays, this area is well-covered by eucalyptus, the pine tree, prevailing the first one.
Along with this species, proper of the climatic characteristics we can find some others of fluvial environments such as elm trees, fir trees, alder trees or birches.
The bushes seem to be mixed with caducipholias especies.
All the groups of animals are represented in the area. It is the groups of birds the one which probably has the biggest number of species, being the water blackbird and the king fisher the most important.
Among the pisciphactory animals, it is important to point out the trout, the eels and the MUJEL.
There are also lots of mamma’s such as bats and red squirrels.
