Xurela
Abeleira

Xurela, a beach located in Insua, which belongs to the parish of Viñas, is a small cove where you can arrive to through a road that is behind the guest house Brisa. The beach is located in the estuary mouth and being on it you can see not only Sada but also the small beach in Miño and the entrance of the stuary of Ferrol.

The beach, considered sheltered and quiet, where some time ago, lots of winkles, cockles and the clam in smaller quantities were fished. As there were lots of horse mackerel it was called a Xurela beach. People of this area loaded algas to fertelize the lands as only as cure for some illness.

“Abeleira”. You can arrive there crossing the village called Ponte do Porco. This beach is located in the River Lambre´s mouth and it is linked to the previous one when there is lowtide becoming in that way in a plaesant walk for all these who come to them.

In this small beach, up to the 50s in the last century, some small fishing boats were made for the people of the village who lived on the sea products.

People also went to this beach to get water and wash their clothes in a small fountain which still exists there.
